About Xi’an University of Finance and Economics

Xi’an University of Finance and Economics (XUFE) is a general higher education institution sponsored by the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province and jointly established by the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province and the National Bureau of Statistics. The predecessor of the university can be traced back to the Northwest Trade university founded in 1952.In June 2001, with the approval of the State Ministry of Education, Shaanxi College of Economics and Trade and Xi’an Institute of Statistics merged to form Xi’an University of Finance and Economics.On November 30, 2018, with the approval of the State Ministry of Education, Xi’an University of Finance and Economics changed its name to Xi’an University of Finance and Economics. The university has four campuses, Chang’an, Yanta, Cuihua East and Cuihua West, covering an area of more than 1,600 acres. The Yanta and Cuihua campuses are adjacent to the famous Tang Dynasty Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and the Chang’an campus is located on the Shenhe Plain at the northern foot of Qinling Mountain, with elegant environment and profound cultural heritage.

The university focuses on economics and management, highlights the advantages and characteristics of statistics, finance, finance, accounting and other disciplines, supported by literature, law, science, engineering and art, and focuses on the coordinated development of multiple disciplines. The university now has 12 colleges and physical education departments, including College of Economics, College of Statistics, College of Business, College of Management, College of Information, College of Law, College of Liberal Arts, College of Public Administration, College of Foreign Languages, College of Continuing Education, College of International Education, College of Marxism, etc. There are more than 1100 full-time teachers, including 60 national and provincial experts, national model teachers, provincial teaching masters, excellent teachers There are 35 times of national and provincial experts, 35 times of national model teachers, provincial teaching masters, excellent teachers, advanced workers, model teachers, advanced individuals of teacher morality, and model teachers of Shaanxi Province.

The university has six first-level disciplines, including applied economics, statistics, business administration, law, public administration and Marxist theory, and 12 professional master’s degree authorization points, including finance, applied statistics, accounting, business administration, engineering, journalism and communication, taxation, auditing, law, Chinese international education, electronic information and public administration. The university has 4 provincial-level advantageous disciplines including statistics, finance, law and management science and engineering, and 1 provincial-level characteristic discipline of western regional economy and industrial development research, and statistics is listed as the construction discipline of “domestic first-class discipline construction university” by Shaanxi Province. There are 3 national specialties, 6 provincial specialties and 3 provincial famous brand majors. There are 21 first-class undergraduate courses at provincial level or above, and 2 national and 3 provincial research and reform projects of “New Engineering, New Liberal Arts and New Agriculture” have been approved. At present, there are more than 17,900 full-time students and 46 international students in the university.

The university has always insisted on talent cultivation as the root and improved the quality of education and teaching as the center, and its core competitiveness and social influence have been enhanced significantly and its construction has been effective. In 2007, the university was awarded “Excellent” in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching work level by the Ministry of Education. In the past three years, the university has won 15 national and provincial teaching achievement awards. There are 5 off-campus practical education bases for college students at the provincial level, 7 experimental zones for innovation of talent training mode at the provincial level, 2 pilot colleges for innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in Shaanxi Province, 5 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 3 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching centers.

The university is open to 31 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) nationwide, and candidates apply enthusiastically. The average admission rate of the first volunteer is 85.6%, and the admission score is generally 30 points above the first grade. The average employment rate of undergraduate students is over 88%.

The university insists on serving the regional economic and social development, takes serving the regional economic transformation and development as the core, finds the entry point of scientific research, uses 11 provincial and ministerial scientific research bases such as China (Xi’an) Silk Road Research Institute, 5 provincial and ministerial scientific research bases and 15 university-level scientific research bases to carry out targeted scientific research work, serves the regional economic construction fruitfully and deepens and expands the combination of industry, academia and research. In the past five years, teachers have undertaken more than 1,200 scientific research projects at all levels, including more than 500 national and provincial scientific research projects, and 40 scientific research achievements have been awarded provincial and ministerial awards for outstanding scientific research achievements. The university has built a training base for education statistics personnel of the Ministry of Education and a training base for statistics staff of the National Bureau of Statistics, which has trained a large number of backbones of statistical operations for the national education system and the national statistics industry.

The university has widely carried out international cooperation and exchange, and has established friendly cooperation with 87 famous foreign institutions such as the University of South Wales in UK, St. Petersburg State University of Economics in Russia, Yonsei University in South Korea, University of Steaua in Malaysia, Savings Bank Consortium College in Bonn in Germany, University of Chester in UK and University of Economics and Management Applications in Essen in Germany.
