Studying abroad in China is an important component of China’s education industry and an important part of foreign exchange and cooperation in education. It has significant strategic significance for China’s economic and social development, enhancing friendly cooperation with other countries and regions around the world, and enhancing the country’s global influence.

Since the reform and opening up, with the improvement of China’s Comprehensive National Power and the increasing attraction of education, China’s educational exchanges and cooperation with countries around the world have become increasingly close, and the education cause of studying in China has also made gratifying achievements. In 2016, China became one of the largest and major destinations for studying abroad in Asia and the world.

International students studying in China are ambassadors of folk exchanges and a new force in conveying China’s voice to the world. Under the attraction of the “Study Abroad in China” program, more and more talents are coming to China to study abroad. During their stay in China, the students enhanced their understanding and recognition of China’s national conditions, social conditions, and people’s sentiments, and cultivated a deep sense of understanding and friendship with China. In order to enhance the profound understanding of Chinese higher education, technological production capacity, social governance, people’s lives, and cultural heritage among international students, universities are gradually offering courses on national education for international students in China. Relevant institutions organize rich and colorful activities to provide a “big stage” for international students to tell Chinese stories to the world, igniting them to tell Chinese stories well and the sincere desire to spread China’s experience and voice its voice. The Study Abroad Service Center of the Ministry of Education actively promotes the construction of a database for alumni studying in China, enhances the cohesion and sense of belonging of alumni studying in China, and actively serves the overall situation of the country’s education opening up to the outside world.

Graduates studying in China who understand China and know the world are an important talent resource for Chinese enterprises to “Going out“. They have incomparable advantages in professional fields, language ability, local cultural background, etc. Doing a good job in employment for international students studying in China will effectively enhance the added value of the “Study in China” brand and contribute Chinese wisdom to China’s participation in global education governance. China takes the “studying in China” brand as a starting point, matches the employment needs of enterprises and the employment aspirations of overseas students in China, holds recruitment fairs for overseas students in China, organizes international talents to enter Chinese enterprises, and devotes ourselves to serving the “the Belt and Road” initiative and the talent power strategy.

As an important carrier for promoting Chinese education and culture, the “Study Abroad in China” education promotion activity plays an irreplaceable role in strengthening international educational exchanges, promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and promoting folk friendship. For over 20 years, China has been organizing Chinese universities to participate in international education exhibitions in groups, competing with major destination countries worldwide. With the development of Internet technology and the advent of the era of Big data, new media means and overseas social matrix have emerged at the historic moment, expanding the brand promotion channels of “studying in China”, making China’s higher education information reach a wider range of overseas young people, and enhancing the international influence and voice of China’s education.

Looking back, the development of studying abroad in China has always resonated with the development of the country. Looking forward to the future, the work of studying in China will focus on national needs and quality connotations, cultivate friendly envoys who pay attention to China’s development, participate in China’s construction, and spread China’s voice, and promote higher level, larger scope, and more proactive high-level education opening up to the outside world.

This examination is essential to ensure your health and well-being while studying in China. In this article, we will provide you with a comprehensive guide on how to complete the medical/physical examination for applying to Chinese universities.

Step 1: Understanding the Requirements Before you begin the examination process, familiarize yourself with the specific medical/physical examination requirements set by the Chinese universities you are applying to. These requirements may vary slightly from one institution to another. You will typically find detailed information on the university’s official website or in the application guidelines provided by the admissions office.

Step 2: Choose an Accredited Medical Institution To ensure that your medical examination results are valid and recognized by Chinese universities, it is crucial to choose an accredited medical institution. The medical institution should be authorized by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your home country to conduct the examination. Contact your nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate for a list of accredited medical institutions in your area.

Step 3: Schedule an Appointment Once you have selected a suitable medical institution, contact them to schedule an appointment for your medical/physical examination. It is advisable to make an appointment well in advance, as some institutions may have limited availability due to high demand.

Step 4: Collect Required Documents and Forms Before your appointment, gather all the necessary documents and forms required for the examination. This may include:

  1. Passport: Bring your original passport and a photocopy.
  2. Application Form: Some medical institutions may require you to fill out an application form before the examination.

  1. General Physical Examination: This involves measuring your height, weight, blood pressure, and conducting a general physical assessment.
  2. Medical History Interview: You may be asked questions about your medical history, including any pre-existing conditions, allergies, or medications you are currently taking.
  3. Laboratory Tests: Blood and urine samples will be collected for analysis to assess your overall health condition. The tests may include blood count, liver function, kidney function, infectious diseases, and HIV/AIDS screening.
  4. Chest X-ray: A chest X-ray is typically required to check for tuberculosis (TB) or other respiratory conditions.
  5. Electrocardiogram (ECG): In some cases, an ECG might be performed to evaluate your heart’s electrical activity.

Step 6: Collect Your Examination Report After completing the examination, you will receive an examination report from the medical institution. This report should contain all the necessary information and test results as required by the Chinese universities. Ensure that the report is properly sealed and signed by the authorized medical personnel.

Step 7: Submitting the Examination Report Finally, submit the original examination report along with other required documents to the university’s admissions office. Different universities may have different submission methods, so carefully follow the instructions provided by each institution. Make copies of all the documents for your own records.

Completing the medical/physical examination for applying to Chinese universities is an important step in ensuring your health and eligibility to study in China. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can navigate the examination process smoothly and fulfill the requirements set by the universities you are applying to. University in Qingdao opens ocean courses to world https://www.istudy-china.com/university-in-qingdao-opens-ocean-courses-to-world/ https://www.istudy-china.com/university-in-qingdao-opens-ocean-courses-to-world/#respond Thu, 06 Jul 2023 02:38:44 +0000 https://www.istudy-china.com/?p=743745 By XIE CHUANJIAO in Qingdao, Shandong | China Daily

Students and scholars of ocean studies around the world, as well as the wider public who are interested in ocean-related studies, are now able to access top-level courses thanks to an online teaching program launched by the Academy of the Future Ocean at the Ocean University of China.

The Global Ocean Open Courses invite world-class experts in marine science and other related fields to lecture on the latest international scientific findings.

The academy started the program last July and plans to launch 10 more courses by 2025, with each comprised of four lectures given in English and available on a variety of academic livestreaming platforms to target a global audience.

Li Jianping, dean of the academy, said that the program is characterized by its global vision and international standards, and is the first open marine science course China has offered to the world.

“All the courses deal with the latest international frontiers in science and present the latest scientific achievements,” he said. “The program involves interdisciplinary studies and focuses on deep international cooperation, with each course featuring lectures by professors from our academy and abroad. Through joint research and teaching, we are trying out a new model of international collaboration.”

Previous foreign lecturers for the courses have come from the United States, Germany and Sweden. “The open courses are not a replacement for traditional teaching, but a complement,” Li said. “If we compare everyday classroom teaching to home cooking, then the Global Ocean Open Courses program is like a feast.”

The program is open to all, Li said. “In the past, open courses offered by Chinese universities were only for domestic attendees,” he said. “But Global Ocean Open Courses, which are available on multiple academic livestreaming platforms and are given in English, make it possible to share knowledge with people around the world.”

Xu Bochao, a professor at the Academy of the Future Ocean, gave a lecture on the use of Ra-226 — the most abundant radium isotope found in the ocean — as a tracer of thermohaline circulation.

Xu said that the course “has played a good role in the publicity, popularization and promotion of international frontier hot spots and has contributed to the latest progress in isotope oceanography research”. “I learned that audiences from assorted academic backgrounds were interested in the course, and I expect more interdisciplinary lectures to be given in the future,” he said.

Niu Zixuan, a student at the academy, said that the Global Ocean Open Courses program provides an opportunity to broaden the scope of scientific research in many fields and has greatly inspired him. So far, the open courses have had more than 100,000 views, attracting visitors from more than a dozen countries and regions around the world.

Chinese full-time universities’ school year contains two semesters (except for a few ones that start trial implementation of 3-semester system). The first semester starts on autumn of each year; and the second semester starts on spring. Student studies 5 days a week, each semester lasts about 20 weeks.

Spring semester

Courses offered in spring semester usually are Chinese language training, short-term cultural, medical training, and the like. Spring semester starts on early March of each year; the application usually starts on Sept. or Oct. of the previous year and closes in mid-January of current year. The application deadline of some universities is at the end of December of previous year.

Autumn semester

Courses offered in autumn semester are usually degree programs, Chinese foundation program, short-term Chinese language training, and other short-term training programs (Cultural, Medical trainings and so on). Autumn semester starts on Sept. of each year; Application usually starts at the beginning of March and closes before mid-Jul. The deadline of some universities is at the end of June, nevertheless in some universities, the deadline is extended to the end of August.
In addition, most Chinese universities’ Chinese language courses accepts application throughout the year, the foreign students can apply at any time.
That the specific date to apply, especially the application date of short-term training programs, please refers to each university’s official website.

Time Arrangement for Study in China (Our suggestions)

Application for course offered in Spring Semester

Sept. to Oct. of the current year: Submitting the Application
Nov. to Dec. of the current year: Waiting for admission result and JW202 form issuing
Jan of the next year: Waiting for receiving the Admission materials mailed
Feb. of the next year: Applying for visa and preparing for going to university (Luggage, Air Tickets, Accommodation, etc.)
For short-term(less than 6 months) Chinese language or other training program students, the university usually will not issue JW202 form, and will not mail original admission notice, instead, most universities will send student canned copy of admission notice, so student can apply for tourist (L) visa or visitor’s (F) visa to come to the university. The student should contact the university in time when scanned copies of admission notice, letter of invitation are required for applying for atourist (L) visa or visitor’s (F) visa.

Application for course offered in Autumn Semester

March to April: Submitting the Application
May to June: Waiting for admission result and form JW202 issuing
July: Waiting for receiving the Admission materials mailed
August: Applying for visa and preparing for going to university (Luggage, Air Tickets, Accommodation, etc.)
September: Going to university

When applying for a Chinese university, the earlier, the better, so that, on one hand, there will be enough time for you to prepare for materials that are required for your application; on the other hand, there will be more time left for you to deal with emergency cases that may happen during the application. For example, the correspondence address that some students provide are not specific enough so that admission documents cannot arrive at the right place to be collected, thus impacting the registration time of the university in which they are enrolled, as well as missing other universities’ application time, especially for those who applied for only one university, much more time should be guaranteed for the application so as to make a considerable plan.

How foreign students apply for Chinese university https://www.istudy-china.com/how-foreign-students-apply-for-chinese-university/ https://www.istudy-china.com/how-foreign-students-apply-for-chinese-university/#respond Wed, 16 Nov 2022 05:17:13 +0000 https://www.istudy-china.com/?p=345 The ways that foreign students apply for Chinese university are almost the same with ones which are commonly used in global international students flow.

1. Apply through agent

Agents in student’s own countries
Students can contact legal agents in their own country through approaches such as networks or advertisements and so on of these kinds, and ask them to help apply for Chinese universities by paying a certain amount of fees, including registration fee of the university and service charge.
Advantages
It will be easier in communication due to speaking the same language and living in the same place.
Disadvantage
The agents may be not clear enough about information of Chinese universities; and charges comparably higher fees.

Agents in China

The students can find legal agents in China through internet or friends recommendations, and ask them to help you apply for Chinese universities by paying a certain amount of fees, including registration fee of the university and service charge.
Advantages
The agents know more about Chinese universities and cities so they can provide students with specific information, while they charge less than that of the agents in students’ own countries
Disadvantages
There will be some barriers existed in communication due to time, and the language spoken is not the mother language of the students.

2. Apply by students themselves

Go to the university and apply by students themselves
Students can go to the university and submit the application in accord with requirements on university’s official website by themselves after getting application documents ready. So they can look around the university, get familiar with university campus directly and experience the atmosphere of the university. While the disadvantage is that it can waste too much of your time This kind of approach is more suitable for international students who have been living in China.

Fax or mail the application documents to university by students themselves
The students submit the documents in accord with requirements on university official website to the international students admission office of the university through fax or mail. This kind of application is easy to cause the application documents lost or damaged, also it costs lots of time, so usually it is not recommended.

Appoint friends in the university to submit application.
The students can submit their applications with a help of their friends who are studying in the university, since they are students of the university, they will be clearer about the documents required, office location and responsible person.

Apply online on university official website (part of universities)
